My Health Screening

Health Screening is a process of identifying apparently healthy people who may be at increased risk of a disease or condition. They can then be offered information, further tests and appropriate treatment to reduce their risk and/or any complications arising from the disease or condition. Health Screening tests are tests that look for diseases before you have symptoms. Screening tests can find diseases early, when they're easier to treat.

In conjunction with the Neil Prendeville show on Cork's RedFM we recently performed a health screen on Pat aged 38. Pat's interview is available to listen to on our News page.

If you have symptoms or complaints of a medical nature, then it is more appropriate for you to attend your GP for a full medical assessment.

Some conditions that health professionals commonly screen / investigate for include:
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Prostate cancer in men
  • Haemochromatosis
  • Coeliac Disease
  • Vitamin D
  • Breast cancer and cervical cancer in women - information coming shortly
  • Osteoporosis - information coming shortly

Which tests you need depends on your age, your sex, your family history, and whether you have risk factors for certain diseases.
